Puzzle Pieces is a group show exploring a collaboration between designers and artist - Siri Johansen, Pati Passero and Celia Pym. They live in different cities – Paris, Oslo and London but share enthusiasm for process, play and collage as a way of making and came together in Kyoto to explore their research into ‘waste’ materials and process as a way to lead design.
With a focus on ‘leftover’ materials - for example : knitting swatch tests, waste pieces of knitting from WYP production, thin paper napkins from cafes, yesterday’s newspapers and ‘waste’ ceramics from Gojozaka Shimizu gallery - Puzzle Pieces is an interactive exhibition combining, layering, assembling, patching and unravelling as a way to creatively make new patterns and puzzles from these leftover materials.
Siri, Pati and Celia all value leftover and ‘waste’ materials– that would normally be discarded or overlooked – and see potential in them precisely because they are irregular, everyday materials.
